Music producer Pete Duffy is travelling across Irish towns and cities from August through The Dreams Loft Busker Sessions, offering street performers free professional recordings while celebrating the country’s rich grassroots music culture.
Busking has long been woven into the cultural fabric of Ireland — from the iconic sounds of Grafton Street to the vibrant corners of Galway, Cork and beyond. This August, The Dreams Loft Recording Studio launched an ambitious new community-driven project designed to honour and support the musicians who help shape that tradition every day.
Led by producer and composer Pete Duffy, the initiative will see him appear unexpectedly in towns and cities across Ireland, where he will professionally record live street performances by local buskers. Selected performers will then receive their recordings free of charge following full studio mixing and production at The Dreams Loft.
The first stop on the journey was Dublin, where Pete took the project to the streets and recorded two remarkable musicians, LEILA JANE, a soulful indie pop artist, and CROCCO, a guitarist and vocalist, capturing their performances in the heart of the city.
The project aims not only to celebrate Ireland’s extraordinary street music culture, but also to help provide emerging artists with access to professional-quality material that may otherwise be out of reach.
Duffy, who has long expressed deep admiration for Ireland’s musical heritage, says the initiative is rooted in respect for the courage, creativity and resilience of street performers.
Running over three months, the initiative will encourage performers and audiences alike to follow the journey as anticipation builds around where Pete may appear next.
By blending cultural appreciation with practical support, The Dreams Loft’s latest venture positions itself as more than a recording project — it is a celebration of Irish artistry at its most immediate and human level. As Ireland continues to champion its creative communities, this initiative promises to shine a fresh spotlight on the voices already echoing through its streets.
